I’ve not read a pure romance book in quite a while, so this was a refreshing change. And as someone who used to travel a lot before the pandemic, I was 100% on board with the author to escape to Greece via an armchair vacation!

I found this book is highly entertaining, and I would be grinning to myself whenever the leads go about with their banter. (Just kiss already! LOL) But yes, I later learned that Jennifer’s brand was sweet and sassy, and this story definitely delivered.

Hermione is a relatable lead, and I love how she’s not watered down from being a strong woman who’s passionate about her career and the people she’s come to consider her family. Atlas is also an interesting character with a painful and complex backstory, and I was happy to see him open up to Hermione — despite him not really wanting to. The other characters were also fun to have around, making the Ludus Resort feel like home even to myself as a reader.

I like simple yet evocative prose, and Jennifer’s writing style fits right in! The story felt just a little rushed near the end though, and having grown up reading Harry Potter my mind couldn’t avoid visualizing wizard Hermione at times, whoops. Overall, however, it was a delightful romantic read, and perfect for Valentines!

Recommended Listening: As I mentioned in my open call for books to review, I’ll now be adding a song to my reviews! It’ll be one that either sums up the book for me, or what I’d imagine in a trailer were it a movie… or maybe even an original inspired by it 😉
